Damion Hunter
Damion Hunter is a native from New Orleans, Louisiana with a B.A. in Fine Arts from Dillard University and a Masters of Sustainable Real Estate Development from Tulane University School of Architecture. For decades, Damion has dedicated his talents to the diverse art culture by identifying his artistic focus on the relationship between the spirit and contagious rhythms of southern culture. His work explores many aspects of social, urban and visual influences in the community.
Although his talents have an intuitive perception of past-down influences from renaissance artist masters. Damion’s paintings are stimulating and interesting enough to ignite a desire to evoke both current realities and hopes for a better future. Damion’s work spans throughout numerous visual art-forms, including music, dance, literature, and politicized concepts of personal identity that translates into traditional and celebrated African-American culture. Other artwork incorporates urban vernacular themes, visual ambiguity and impermanence design techniques that explore folkloric moments into sculptures, paintings and drawings to better gauge and address concerns within contemporary social themes.
Damion’s artistic and commercial success has been exhibited at art galleries, institutions and artist residencies near and abroad. His desire and urgency to advance in his artistic craft is unending and his accomplishments are challenging, stimulating and rewarding. His willingness to be open and committed to a community that will engage, challenge and grow, will undoubtedly generate and inspire others as well as himself.
